It is our hope that these calls will foster support for a bipartisan resolution in the Minnesota state legislature.
Step 2 - Phone Script for calling House of Representatives Legislative Aides
(Could also be used with Senate Legislative Aides)
You can try calling either the Rep’s Direct # or the Legislative Aide (LA)’s # as posted online.
Example Script to start with:
1) Introduce yourself as a constituent, say how long you've lived in Rep. NAME’s district.
2) State you are an art therapist living in their district and serve a number of clients who also live in their District.
3) State that you are reaching out regarding a bill (licensing clinical art therapists) which you are hoping they would consider supporting.
FOR HOUSE HEALTH FINANCE & POLICY MEMBERS:
) You can share that the bill was heard in the House Health Finance & Policy committee last year, which Rep. NAME was part of, and we think his/her interests in supporting health, mental health, and small businesses would match our goals.
FOR OTHER HOUSE MEMBERS:
) You can share that the bill was heard in the House Health Finance & Policy committee last year with suggestions for refinement. Now the bill has been updated, and we think Rep NAME’s interests in [insert committee topics they are part of] would match our goals.
Depending on the conversation, they may ask for more info. Here's what else you can offer:
If they ask what the bill # is, you can say that the Senate Bill is SF 1675 and the House Bill is HF 2590.
If they ask about other authors, you can say: We have confirmed Matt Norris as a primary author, with Reps. Alex Falconer, Liz Reyer, Esther Agbaje, and Peter Fischer as co-authors. Senate authors are Sen. John Hoffman (DFL-34), Sen. Alice Mann (DFL-50), Sen. Liz Boldon (DFL-25), Sen. Jim Abeler (R-35).
FINALLY: You can always direct the LA to our website: www.mnartherapy.com for more info
